Here's a more modern remix of the Doctor Who theme that is also a remix of a PC demo theme called "Unreal" that was written several years ago.A few voice samples here and there, but mostly instrumental. Used a
more faithful rendition of the lead opening sound in this remix, though I did include the major bridge that was used in the theme for the 5th doctor onwards; however, I slowed it down to a french horn and electronic lead combo, and alternated the scale between major and minor to make it fit the new mix. I kept the 6/8 bassline of the original in
the form of short arco strings, offset against a more traditional 4/4 drum and bass line.
Style - Heavy Electronic, Techno |

I was wondering when we'd get a trance mix. Miguel says to file this under heavy electronic/techno, but I'm afraid with only 20 characters in my genre field (bad planning!) I went with techno/trance - although that doesn't feel quite either. It's a very inventive - parts sounded like Juno Reactor-style psychedelic trance, other bits reminded me of epic trance, others of Noise Unit... Not all styles I'm crazy about, but it's hard to deny the inventive fun. The only thing I didn't like was the synthesized guitar (though done well), but then again I've never been a fan of guitar in four-to-the-floor dance music and the last time I liked synthetic guitar was in the theme song for Psygnosis' Amiga game "The Killing Game Show."
- mutagene (2005.02.04 02:47)
Absolutley 100% totally blinding!!! This is by far one of the best who mixes i have heard so far!!! You can just hear the amount of work that has gone into this!!
Kind of reminds me of the KLF's what time is love, is sort of got that early ninteys house feel to it. I really am impressed!
Look forward to hearing more!
- Chris Rice (2005.02.04 10:54)
Ice hot
didnt think I would say this but I think this could become my favourite version

I loved this...This is a must listen to with headphones on!
- Unworlder 03/05/05 US (2005.03.06 20:37)
I'm sure Future Crew would love to hear this one. ;)
- RenegadeDalek (2005.03.13 23:28)
I don't know if Future Crew would love it or not, but they should at least feel some pride that their theme has been revived again :)
- Miguel Ettema (2005.03.14 05:30)
WHO needs Orbital? Fantastic.
- Darren Southworth March 2005 (2005.03.23 17:46)
Very cool
- Anonymous (2005.03.29 16:36)
Wow. Who would have thought Purple Motion and the Doctor would ever meet...?
- Drew Castalia (2005.03.30 21:15)
AMAZING! I loved it! Fabulous work! Something like this should have been used for the new series (although, yes, I'm a fan of the horns ;-) ).
- Darin, Oregon, US (2005.04.05 22:49)
This is awesome. The sheer quality of it is the equal of many so-called commercial techno. Very well done! I can't wait to hear if you do any more.
Excellent
- Da Doxxor (2005.04.09 18:36)
Absolutely Unreal! Brilliant! Downbeat is places, yet so uplifting. 10/10!
- Cyril Washbrook (2005.04.16 05:28)
WOW... great fusion of two classics! Second Reality and Dr Who..
Brilliant. 11/10
Comments from Purple Motion and Skaven (Future Crew) eagerly awaited!
- paul (UK) (2005.04.17 14:39)
Very slick.. Nice and fast one of my fave remixes :)
- Matthew (2005.04.22 05:12)
Magic!
- Vin (2005.04.29 11:17)
This is really fun to listen to and quite varied in places so it keeps you interested. Quite nice the contrast after about 3 minutes when it paces out and then gets back into the beat. Loved it. Thanks.
- Sai (2005.05.12 11:07)
I didn't like this at first---chalk it up to prejudice from a devoted third Doctor fan when she hears the Seventh Doctor open the theme. The more I've listened to it, the more I like it and the more respect I have for the detailed work that went into it. Now it's one of my favorites. Very few of the longer selections hold up well, but this really carries the listener all the way to the end. Brilliant! Now could you please do a remix that starts with the Third Doctor? (Or better yet, the Delgado Master?)
- jeriwho (2005.05.15 05:21)
Very interesting and well done. After listening to others which are other tighter variations on a theme, this one is something different but yet true to the theme at the same time. There is also enough variation to carry the length without losing the listener.
- CDB (2005.05.20 21:53)
Still listening - it has become my favourite!
We are all timelords!
- Vin (2005.05.23 00:32)
Some lovely low sub-bass frequencies around the 3 minute mark - ardant cheese of the whole thing, that I am ashamed to say I love ;)
That guitar at the end, my word! It's like dying in Shadow of the Beast II all over again :D
- alyd (2005.06.01 13:22)
It's been burned to CD for the next party i have!
It will fit in PERFECTLY to the rest of the trance music that i play.
Honestly, its absolutly fantasic...great, hard work!! Brilliant!
- thebluedeanie UK (2005.06.02 15:48)
this is very good.
- Suit & Tie Guy - suitandtieguy.com (2005.06.17 19:07)
Of all the who remixes I've found here, this comes in my top 2 favourites. A very different take on the theme, with it just lying under the surface. As for the opening line, I thought it was the second doctor. Though, we're only up to the fourth Doctor on the repeats here, so I wouldn't know for sure. Still, one of my all-time favourites.
- Andrew_C (2005.06.23 02:24)
Its good - a Real Gallifreyan Anthem. Makes you feel proud of Gallifrey (sniff)
- Pydois (2005.07.14 02:49)
This is only a notch below the real series themes for me. It evokes something different, but qualitatively similar to the original theme. I love the addition of the "I am a timelord!" sample. That really sets the tone of the whole mix for me. The whole mix hangs on that point. That sample captures something essential to the Doctor Who phenomenon and the music is the perfect vehicle for it.
- Mike (2005.07.15 10:34)
Love this remix - It does indeed keep the spirit of Dr.Who and translates it into trance mix. A must if one has a good trance collection...
- Wolfhawke (2005.07.24 06:55)
This is brillant, a great version and love to hear a new remix version it be great to dance to!
- Derek Hartley (2005.08.08 17:12)
This is stunning, I especially love the way you used the quotes.
- Fenixius (2005.08.09 05:09)
This is BRILLIANT!!!! Excellent driving mix.....I love it.
- Patches (CAN) (2005.08.12 14:44)
Awesome my favourit by far :)

- Who Did It? (2005.08.25 23:24)
This Is an Excellent Remix Well Done. Anybody know where i can get a copy of the original version of unreal(not the game)?
- David Mackay (2005.09.05 10:40)
David,
I can make a copy of it as an MP3 or give you the original ST3/S3M file if you want.
- Miguel Ettema (2005.09.05 21:55)
Okay that is good. Could you give me a link to the mp3 version?
- David Mackay (2005.09.10 04:35)
Send an email to mfettema777@hotmail.com and I'll send it to you as an attachment; it's only half a meg. I recommend that you use Foobar2000 to play the file rather than a specific tracking program. Foobar2000 rules ;)
- Miguel Ettema (2005.09.10 20:39)
Absolutely amazing! You can feel the FUN that's being had with this!
- Adam Highway (2005.09.13 03:40)
this is mad great remix i cant stop listening to it i even made it my ringtone on my phone lol. keep mak'n stuff like this and soon you could be mak'n your own dr.who episodes
- The Doctor (2005.09.28 11:00)
I'm no expert on this kind of thing, but this is a great piece of work! Nice and catchy, with a lively beat. Very nice.
- Walter O'Dim (2005.10.18 00:43)
I love this. It's muscular, it's poppy, it's exciting and it makes me want to dance. The only thing that slightly lets it down is the guitar synth towards the end which sounds a bit out of place. But that's a minor quibble in a track that, overall that overall, I feel, should be out there and available to the public!
- Grefno (2005.11.01 10:41)
BRILL. This is Doc Disco music. The daleks could be lowder. But still good.
- James Morris (2005.11.02 05:48)
reminds me a little of i am the doctor that Jon did. Then it goes tranced out. Awesome.
- kyle k-9 (2005.12.25 01:02)
TREMENDOUS!!!!!!!!!!! Why does this have to be fifty characters long
- charlie (2006.01.03 23:33)
THIS IS GREAT YOU CAN REALLY HEAR THE BEAT IN IT HOWEVER THE EXTERMINATE OF THE DALEKS COULD BE LOUDER
I LOVE IT WELL DONE
- STEVIE (2006.02.22 09:31)
I'm a massive fan of oldschool tracked tunes and obviously the old scene demo music was always in the playlist, this base tune included. (Who who knows what the demoscene hasn't heard this song?) Honestly, I was prepared to hate this - a mix of two songs I love dearly - blasphemy! But, thank god I was wrong. Great meld of the two tunes. Enjoyable.
- Vesh (2006.02.25 22:55)
very cool ,sort of acid -rave thing ,i like the "happy mondays sound " about 2mins 58secs,im playing it again, again and again, cheers we liked
- 8ball (2006.07.07 13:03)
Sweeeeet! I love Future Crew and the Doctor! Thank you! Wonderful!
- Tux's Purple Motion (2006.07.09 13:20)
Kick@SS! Way to go, Miguel. More remixes, please! (Are you like a professional producer or engineer or something like that?)
- Will (2006.08.04 11:05)
Gotta love techno Doctor Who themes. Also, being an Unreal fan, that's just the icing on the cake. Looking forward to hearing more!
- Benny the otter (2006.08.28 15:42)
Fantastic! This piece has some punch and, if I may go a little Emeril, the sample "Kicks it up another notch, BAM!" Well done, Good Show!
- BigBadWolfeboro (2006.10.01 22:06)
Stunning remix! I've had this one for 6 months and still play it most days. My absolute favourite on this site. The guitar at the end sounds great with the sound right up. The soundbites are perfectly placed and the whole thing just "gels". Best listened to with a surround system, That highlights the daleks and a few carefully placed objects that sound simply AWESOME !!
- Doctor Diesel (2006.10.03 05:40)
This remix is great. I've gotta say, I love the bit where the Tardis comes in. I had goosebumps every second. Don't stop making music!
- Rose Tyler (2006.10.09 09:27)
This was great to listen to. I put it on without reading the description, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found such an old favourite mixed in. Excellent stuff.
"I am a Time Lord!" is a nice touch, too :)
- TC (2006.11.03 14:20)
sounds kinda like "Doctor who meets dance dance revolution", but in a good way! nice job!
- torchwood two (2007.03.12 19:32)
Miguel, this is one of my favorite mixes EVER. I absolutely love the energy that you've created here. THANKS for sharing this!
- MJL (2007.03.25 12:27)
Awsome, Sweet, cool, amazing, great, etc. This was a wonderful mix. Where did the
"I am a timelord!" audio come from? I am dying to know! Wow. That. Was. Really. Good.
Mad props to you and Bravatavo!!
- Sam K-G (The Almighty Doctor Who) (2007.12.01 11:03)
It is me again, David Mackay. I have listened to this remix again after over 2 years and still love it. Congratulations.
- David Mackay (2008.04.03 11:37)
WOW! Totally awesome! I could listen to this forever! I like the light mechanical voice around 1:20 It sounds like its saying "EXTERMINATE!" over and over again! Keep writing!!
- Badwolfrosetyler (2008.06.21 16:42)
Conspicuously competent. The waveforms set in their symphony, the piece moves on through a nice structure and the joy comes through.
- Peter Theta (2008.08.16 20:37)
Four years on and I still play this track! I just love it. Is Miguel on Facebook? Had a search but found nothing.
I must confess to editing the song for my own use. I wanted it to never end so I looped a few sections and extended it by about 30%. It's excellent on my motorbike via mp3 player.
